Uplift Scholarship 2021

The Uplift Scholarship is available to graduating students who will enroll in college Summer/Fall 2021. To be considered, you must submit a completed Uplift Scholarship application and meet all qualifications.  Awards will be paid out directly to students after proof of enrollment, details will be provided to recipients.


3 Award Amounts

* One individual will be awarded $1,000
* Two individuals will awarded $500


Deadline: All applications must be postmarked by April 23, 2021


Recipients will be notified by: Friday May 7th, 2021

Scholarship Criteria

Applicants Must Meet All Criteria Listed:

  • A U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident
  • Any person of Hmong descent
  • A San Joaquin County or Sacramento County resident
  • A high school senior, or current high school/GED graduate
  • Will be attending an accredited private/public college or university in Fall 2020
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Winners must attend UPLIFT Scholarship Dinner 


Scholarship Application Packet Checklist:

  • Copy of official transcript
  • Two letters of recommendation. One must be from a teacher.
  • A completed application (available here )
  • Essay subject: Why do you deserve this award and how would you like to give back to the Hmong community? 
    • Essay must be typed, 1 page Minimum, 2 pages Maximum, Single spaced with 1 inch margins all around, 12 pt font, *please include your name on header.
