Support transition families of San Joaquin from public assistance to self-reliance. Its aimed principally at families who are recipients of CalFresh (food stamp) benefits. The 18-month program, which is entirely voluntary, recognizes the importance of family support services in creating major life changes. With help from a career and family navigator, adults participating in the program get help with career training, finding a job, and building essential life skills like household budgeting. Children are matched with mentors and tutors to help ensure that theyre healthy, going to school, and learning at grade level. The program connects and integrates a network of services so that families in need know how to use them to create a better life.
