Volunteer Income Tax Assistance -English, Spanish, Hmong

VITA is our IRS-certified program wherein CPFSJ completes income taxes for mid-low income families. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $58,000 or less, persons with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. Lat year CPFSJ completed over 2,000 tax returns, returning over $4M to the San Joaquin County. This community resource program helps mid-low income families avoid the predatory lending practices of some tax services. Further CPFSJ is working in partnership with BVAA Compass to provide financial literacy classes for participants in VITA.
